The Elden Ring DLC release date is something that many fans are eager to learn about, since they are already ravenous for additional content. We discuss DLC-related news and rumors in this guide. What material to anticipate, potential release dates for the DLC, and more.
DLC Release Date for Elden Ring
First, let's get one thing straight. Not a single DLC for Elden Ring has been officially revealed as of this writing. As a result, the only speculation and informed guesswork in this article is based on FromSoftware's prior DLC release schedules for previous games. The amount of time that separated each FromSoftware game from its first DLCs is broken out here.
Game | Release Date | First DLC/Expansion | Time Between |
Demon’s Souls | February 5th, 2009 | No DLC/Expansion | N/A |
Dark Souls | September 22, 2011 | October 23rd, 2012 | 13 Months |
Dark Souls 2 | March 11th, 2014 | July 22nd, 2014 | 4 Months |
Bloodborne | March 24th, 2015 | November 24th, 2015 | 8 Months |
Dark Souls 3 | March 24th, 2016 | October 24th, 2016 | 7 Months |
Sekiro | March 21st, 2019 | No DLC/Expansion | N/A |
It has been eight months since Elden Ring was released as of this writing. That's not going to happen with Elden Ring, however, since both Bloodborne (The Old Hunters) and Dark Souls 3 (Ashes of Ariandel) received their initial expansions around the same time. Notably, Sekiro has not gotten any paid DLC material other than one complimentary DLC pack that was released 19 months after the game's original release. With Elden Ring, we're very certain that won't occur and that we'll get several paid DLCs.
13 months after Dark Souls' release, Artorias of the Abyss had the longest wait for its first DLC. The first Elden Ring DLC would release in March 2023 as a result. Additionally, it sounds like a fair timeframe for the first DLC. It takes time and money for FromSoftware to provide a great, full-fledged expansion, not just a little DLC. As a result, we have determined that the Elden Ring DLC will be announced during the December 2022 Game Awards and released in February or March of 2023.
DLC Rumors and Leaks Regarding Elden Ring: Barbarians of the Badlands
As we've previously indicated, DLCs for Elden Ring have not yet been formally announced by FromSoftware and Bandai Namco. Thus, all we have at this time are leaks and rumors. Our most powerful leak to date came to light a few months ago. There are rumors that Barbarians of the Badlands will be the name of the first Elden Ring DLC.. Furthermore, the DLC is scheduled for release in the third quarter of Fiscal Year 2023, based on that leak. January, February, and March of 2023 are included in Q3 FY 2023. This is consistent with the release date that we anticipated.
The claimed ransomware assault that Bandai Namco experienced in July 2022 is the source of this disclosure. As a result, information obtained via that breach cannot be verified and has to be used with caution. But for now, that's all we have. Moreover, the game already makes reference to Badlands. It strengthened the leak's credibility. That's all we currently know about the Elden Ring DLC's name and release date. However, we will make sure to add any fresh rumors and news to the page.
